Eligible participants include former foster youth who:

Spent time in foster care at or after the age of 14
-
Left foster care through adoption or transfer of guardianship at age 16 or older
-
Are currently between the ages of 16 and 26 AND are enrolled in a post-secondary education program or other institute of higher learning

*Monies are supported through John H. Chafee grant which is a federally based funding source. As a result, youth who are immigrant/undocumented status are NOT eligible to receive assistance.
Our Impact
Girls and Boys Who Build supported 50 youth
in grades 6-12 by enhancing self-esteem and personal growth through engaging monthly workshops and field trips.
Building Bridges Mentorship connected 5 foster youth
with experienced mentors to develop critical skills for home, school, and community success.
Facilitated 4 Imagine Me cohorts
where we empowered a total of 60 teens in care with critical life skills through professional guidance and targeted workshops.
Men Deserve to Heal created a safe space for men of color
to address mental health through expert-led workshops on stress management and emotional well-being.
Roots & Wings supported 15 adopted adults
by providing free AncestryDNA kits to explore their biological family histories.
Empowered Beginnings offered virtual support and resources for 40 young parents
parents in foster care navigating the challenges of parenthood.
Holiday Hope brought joy and connection to 53 foster youth
in inpatient care during the emotionally challenging holiday season.

OUR WORK
The mission of Unashamed Inc. is to journey with current and transitioning foster youth and young adults, between the ages of 14-26, to overcome shame and know they have value and purpose, so they believe they belong in this world.Through various programs and services, we equip youth and young adults with the tools they need to dismantle unhealthy generational patterns and transition from surviving to thriving. We seek to support, inspire, and empower young men and women who have found themselves in these difficult situations and sow seeds of hope, resiliency and the skills needed for a positive future - even when they can’t see a future in sight.

It’s hard to put into words just how special Unashamed, Inc and their Seeds of Hope project truly is. I didn’t have the funds to hire anyone to help me track down my birth parents. But when the Seeds of Hope opportunity came to me in a fortunate turn of events, my birth parents were found and contacted in less than three weeks. It has been a truly incredible experience and I am so thankful that a company like this exists to not only help adoptees find their birth families but to have their backs and provide reliable, trustworthy people and resources that make it a seamless experience.
